Day 327 – Blessed are you who read aloud the Words of Revelation and persevere until Christ has come again.
Today’s Reading: Revelation 1 – 2
Revelation 1:3, “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.”
If you are like me, you have come to the final book of the Bible after reading through it all year, and BOOM, 3 verses in tells you to read this out loud. For one, I sit in my ‘Quiet Room’, my infamous Prayer Room, the place I write and study my Bible. I don’t want to chance waking anyone. Secondly, isn’t it just awkward to read out loud, especially if you are by yourself?! Someone will definitely think this mama has gone cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
Yet, maybe I’m not alone, God is always with me. He’s never left me alone. If God says read aloud, I’m going to get over myself. Every year I read and study the Bible and every year there’s something new that comes to life right before my eyes. This is one of those times.
Even after doing an in-depth study of the Book of Revelation, I hadn’t noticed this verse, so I’m not taking it lightly. As my voice carries across these words, His Words, to my ears, its as though I hear Him speaking directly to me.
Revelation 2:7, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”
We are to be conquerors, to persevere in tribulation, to overcome our own selfish desires and ambitions, to hold fast to what we know as true and walk with Jesus. If we do these things, if we speak, listen, hear, and adhere to His Words then in the end He will bless us. Jesus will bless us with the tree of life to eat from in Paradise, keep us safe in the 2nd death, provide us with the hidden manna, deliver us a new name, hand us authority over the nations, lay on us white garments, keep our name forever in the book of life, build us as a pillar in the temple, place the name of God across us, and have us sit with Him in His throne. What more do we need then just Him alone?
Why not try it, why not listen and speak His Word out loud. Why not be blessed!
