Day 308 – Don’t give the Devil any opportunity to win.
Today’s Reading: Ephesians 3 – 5
Ephesians 4:26-27 “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.”
Homecoming is one of the greatest nights in high school football. Alumni come back together to see one another after a long time parted. Fences broken become mended, and new memories are made under those Friday Night Lights. It’s an opportunity to come “Home” and be unified as one school and one family. But as night falls, amidst the fans in the grandstands, there is heartache, broken homes, anger, lost souls, and a devil ready to pounce on the weakened victims. He knows as the night lingers on the festivities diminish, everyone will part ways and he can continue to destroy the once unified body and steal the Joy from each soul.
Ephesians 4:28-32 “Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
We must choose to fight this battle with love by forgiving one another, being kind, and making right our wrongs, not focusing on one another’s wrongs.
Ephesians 5:1-2 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
We must walk in love and be imitators of Christ because if He had let the night fall on His anger we wouldn’t be saved or welcomed into the Greatest “HOMECOMING” of all.
