Day 306 – 365 Days through the Word

Day 306 – Let freedom in Christ encourage you to serve one another in love.

Today’s Reading: Galatians 3 – 5

Galatians 5:13-14 “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

In Christ, we are made free, not free to do as we please but free to love, free from the bondage of Legalism and Sin, and free to serve one another.

Serving…..doesn’t that contradict freedom, but it’s actually simply freeing. Under bondage and slavery you are forced to serve and under freedom in Christ you are free to serve, it becomes a choice. Then the choices we make are to be made out of love since our freedom comes out of the abundant love of Christ.

In this freedom, however, we get stuck on a wide spectrum. Some fall so far right that they get stuck in the rut of legalism and some fall so far left that they get stuck in the muck of sin. Either way, when you get stuck there is a power over you and you become enslaved again.

Galatians 5:1 “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

You have a choice to make, what will it be? Don’t be tied down by legalism or burdened under the weight of sin, find freedom in the hands of Christ and serve one another out of the love He pours into you.
