Day 303 – 365 Days through the Word

Day 303 – Even when things get tough, we will not be broken.

Today’s Reading: 2 Corinthians 3 – 7

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-10

When my husband and I were beginning our marriage, we began talking about having children. My one dream for them was that they would never have to go through the trauma like I went through when I was young. I felt so broken for so long. I never once questioned God, but I didn’t want them to have to struggle like I did. So, when their youngest brother passed away at such a young age, I was so afraid of what their life would be like. What choices they would make, if I would do the right thing to help them along. But God, God may allow hard things to happen in our life that hurt us, confuse us, and persecute us, But when we are in Him, He will not let them crush us, forsake us, or destroy us.

My children have shown me that their faith has grown from their hurt, their trust in God has grown from their pain, and their hope in the future has grown from their loss. God has protected them as He protects all of those who believe in Him by the power we find in the cross. The power we have concealed in our jars of clay.

I know there is a lot of hurt in this world, but remember, through Jesus’ sacrifice we have a power within us, a light in the darkness that will never leave us, never forsake us, and when we lean into Him will grow us for a brighter future.
