Day 154 – Turn the Talk of the Town into the Conversion conversation.
Today’s Reading: Psalm 69 – 71
“I am the talk of those who sit in the gate, and the drunkards make songs about me.” Psalm 69:12.
Have you ever felt like all eyes were on you, every hand to the mouth was covering a whisper about your name? I’ve been there, done that, and felt the fury and shame.
When I first returned to church after God had completely changed my life, my past definitely preceded my “presence”. I could see the eyes of judgement in the congregation. Then when my son passed away I could hear the whispers as I walked in the room, I could see the eyes, a little different this time, just watching and waiting for my every move.
I’m not alone, there are many judging eyes. Our head plays tricks on us, and the Devil tries to deceive us into believing we aren’t welcome, we need to go home, no one should judge us. It’s a bunch of hypocrisy, right?!
BUT GOD…… But God wants you in church. He wants you in community; everyone has a past, everyone in that congregation is a sinner. The past that proceeds us is a proclamation of our transformation. It’s the story He’s given us. The LORD wants them to see you, to talk and whisper so you can declare His Goodness with your Victory.
Don’t let your drug-induced years, your marital status, your party-girl lifestyle, your abused childhood, your abortion, or anything else hinder you from claiming your renewed future. Let your shame be erased by the victory you claim. And let the eyes and the mouths of your accusers be amazed at the transformation they see.
2 Corinthians 3:18 “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
Through this, the changes that others see in you, their faith will grow and you will notice their hands will turn to hugs, their eyes become sincere, and their talk turn to praises of the Glory that Shines forth from your life. They will accept all of you….your past, your “presence” and your future.
