Day 142 – No matter the circumstance, no matter the time, look for the good.
Today’s Reading: Psalm 27 – 29
“I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living!” Psalm 27:13
Optimism, pessimism, there’s 2 sides to every coin and to every story. We have a choice as to which side we see. We have a choice to look at the glass half-empty or half-full. We have a choice to wake up every morning and look for the good in the day or the bad.
I choose to look for the good in the land of the living. Looking for the good brings your heart gladness because Good is from God.
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.”
When we look for the negative in things it makes our heart hurt, it makes our stomach sour, and our eyes see evil.
Proverbs 11:27 “Whoever seeks good finds favor,but evil comes to one who searches for it.”
Looking for the Good in a situation is guarding your heart from fear. Looking for the good is seeing all as God’s creation since He created everything and He created it as good!
Genesis 1:31 “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.”
If you look for the negative you are looking for evil and that was brought here by Satan.
Proverbs 4:20-27 “My son, pay attention to what I say;turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight,keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart,for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity;keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead;fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.”
The one thing that I can promise is that in all my trials and all my pain I look for good. Evil or negativity bring regret and who wants to live in regret when we don’t know what a day will bring. Look for the good!
