Day 136 – God loves YOU!
Today’s Reading: Psalms 4 – 8
Psalm 5:7 “But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.”
Have you ever thought, why does God love me? I’m but nothing and I do so much wrong. Even David contemplated this. He knew of all the wrong he’d done, but God still loved him and provided for him.
Psalm 8:4 “what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”
David is reflecting not on anything bad that has happened to him, but the good and care that God has for him.
2 Samuel 7:18 “Then King David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said: “Who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?”
After God had brought David into his kingdom and provided for all of his family, he sits in awe with great thanks for what has been done.
God loves each one of us in the same way that he loved David because He created man in His own image. He knew who we would be and what we would be like before we were even born. He created us OUT OF LOVE; He knit us together in our mother’s wombs.
When you look at the wild flowers, the sunrise, the monarch butterfly, or the beautiful cardinal, remember that if He has provided for each of them and made them beautiful, He will provide for us even more.
Psalm 8:6-9 “You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
When the Lord breathed breath into Adam He gave him dominion over all the earth and everything in it for him to take care of it and God in return would care for us. We love others because He first loved us, we DO, by His example. If you ever doubt His love for you, think about a mother and child, you would give and do anything for your child, and we are His children, so He would do anything for us. Just as I care for all of my children and can’t wait to be together, He too longs for us and is awaiting the day that we will all be united.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” John 3:16a.
