Day 103 – Out of the depths of our soul and the joy of our hearts we should open our hands to the Lord and say, “All I have is yours because you gave me all I have.”
Today’s Reading: 1 Chronicles 29 – 2 Chronicles 1
1 Chronicles 29:17-18 “I know, my God, that you test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. In the uprightness of my heart I have freely offered all these things, and now I have seen your people, who are present here, offering freely and joyously to you. O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you.”
When you offer a gift to the Lord it should be with a willing heart, not holding anything back because the only reason we have what we have is because the Lord gave it to us.
Sometimes we can get so greedy with our “stuff”. We may think we worked hard to earn it, so we deserve what we have, or we love what we have so much we don’t want to give it to Him. But God’s love is the reason we have “It” in the first place.
Every time I run across a picture of my son, Hayden, that God took to Heaven, my heart is filled with joy and a smile brightens across my face. Hayden was a gift that God gave to me, and thus far is the greatest Gift I’ve given back to Him. The day the Lord took him home it was hard to believe I had to let him go, but I knew God gave him to me for a time and now it was time to give him back. And I willing did so.
As David weeped and fasted and placed ashes on his head before his son passed on to Heaven, once he left this earth he returned to joy because He knew where he was and that he’d see him again. I too know where my son is and until I see Hayden again God has given me Joy in the memories. I’m breaking through the ashes now and discovering the beauty of the offering.
