Day 58– Fight for your inheritance!
Today’s Reading: Joshua 17:1-21:45.
Joshua 17:17-18 “Then Joshua said to the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and Manasseh, “You are a numerous people and have great power. You shall not have one allotment only, but the hill country shall be yours, for though it is a forest, you shall clear it and possess it to its farthest borders. For you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong.”
Though we have many trials in front of us, our Faith deserves the Fight. Our inheritance in Christ is under attack, there are powers and authorities in this world that want to take away the inheritance God has for us. But our inheritance is in eternity, given to us through Christ and though we must stay in this world and deal with the evil, we shouldn’t succumb to it.
The sons of Joseph believed their inheritance wasn’t their’s for the taking because it was the wilderness filled with forests and powerful people with a lot of military equipment, but Joshua encouraged them to pursue their inheritance, overpower the people, and tear down the forest.
Our wilderness of forests and powerful people come in the form of anger, drugs, sexual promiscuity, bullying, jealousy, pride, and selfishness; really anything that comes in the way of our walk that seems to big to overcome. We need to go to prayer for one another, address each situation with kindness, accept help when offered, not get offended by criticism, and look within to see how we can work on our example in Christ.
Fight for your inheritance, fight for your friends, fight for your family, fight for your child. Don’t let Satan win.
1 Peter 1:3-5 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
