On the 9th Day of Christmas

On the 9th Day of Christmas –

God always gives us another option.

Matthew 1:19-21, 24 “Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife.”

Years ago, my family decided to completely gut and remodel a home. It was a rebuilding time for us, a new beginning, and during the process I quickly learned that there’s always another option….especially with paint.

When Joseph found out Mary was pregnant he thought he had 2 choices, divorce her quietly or have her stoned, but God came to him in his sleep and gave him another option, marry her. This option would be risky, but Joseph trusted God and decided to follow through with this decision.

Aren’t we all grateful he did!

In life, we all come to a crossroad, where we have to make a decision. Sometimes the options will be few or sometimes like paint there will be 1000’s. But thankfully, God will always provide us with the right and good choice. All we need to do is look to Him for His wisdom and open our eyes to the option He is giving us. Sometimes God’s options are in the most unlikely of places, but are the greatest option of all.
