“People with their mind set on you, you keep completely whole. Steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit.”
Isaiah 26:3 MSG
Those who seek the Lord even when they want to give up will be kept in perfect peace.
Yesterday I wanted to give up. I actually started crying and I’m not a crier. I just felt like one thing after another was hitting me. And you know what I thought, where my mind immediately turned?
How is it that I try to do everything the way God is leading me and these things keep happening? Yet others, who are not doing things his way, aren’t experiencing the same trials I am? I should just do things their way.
Yep, I thought it, and immediately in that thought, the Holy Spirit nudged my heart, and I prayed. I prayed that God would keep my eyes on him and fill my heart with peace.
A calm fell over me, my anger subsided, and the tears dried up. My circumstances didn’t change, but my heart did and that’s when God speaks. He whispers reminders into my soul, my being, to fill me with Abundant Life when I feel abundantly lifeless.
- Have hope because of Jesus
- In this hope you will see his goodness in the land of the living
- In this hope you will experience perfect peace
- In this hope he is working all things out for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose
- In this hope there’s perseverance through trials
- In this hope he is building Jesus-like character within you
- In this hope there is an anchor for your soul, trusting in what you cannot see – Faith
Don’t give up! Don’t stop trusting in Jesus, and his goodness. Don’t stop following his Ways because other ways seem easier. It may be easy another way for a little while, but it leads to darkness and loneliness; only God’s way leads to light and life.
“Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easy-going formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life – to God! – Is vigorous and requires total attention.”
Matthew 7:13-14 MSG
