Song of Songs 6:13
A gifting is sometimes hard to recognize depending on how we see ourselves, but a passion is always felt and should be used as fuel for the purpose we’ve been given.
Maybe you’re like many people and you’re now asking, ‘well that’s great but I don’t even know my purpose.’ I’ll make it short and simple, essentially we all have the same purpose… To shine the light of Jesus to a hurting and broken world…a.k.a., glorifying God.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven..
Matthew 5:14-16
Our purpose is defined, but it’s our passion that should fuel our purpose.
You’ve probably felt passion at one point or another in your life. That feeling of exhilaration, a twinkling in your eye. When you’re exercising your passion, whatever it may be, you feel alive. Like a job that you love, you’re working hard at, but it never feels like hard work. You enjoy it so much that it feels as if you’re not working at all.
When you feel this passion, it’s like a fuel that should be utilized to glorify God. You should do whatever that thing is in a way to show others the way to the cross. These passions can turn into a full on gifting that may one day lead to a calling because God wants to use us in the way he gifts us, not how we gift ourselves.
His gifting’s to us come as passions, they come on as things that bring us joy. And I say this with all vulnerability that only my closest friends know, I’ve struggled with Joy ever since the loss of my youngest son. It’s not that I don’t have it and I know it’s a choice, but joy comes when you are doing what you love, that thing you’re passionate about. You know where my joy comes from? The place where my passion comes to life. Helping others.
I find passion and helping others.
Not helping myself, not having fun, but actually helping others. Mentoring, writing, leading, Bible study, speaking, physical help, getting of myself to whatever the need may be. That is the passion that fuels my purpose, and that is when I experience Abundant Joy.
When I am doing what I’m passionate about I’m like the woman in Song of Songs, Song of Solomon, dancing my heart out with Helping Hands to others.
Where is your Passion? How can you use it to fuel your purpose to dance your heart out to be a Light for Jesus? Go do it! Go use your passion for the Glory of God.
